ICASDV Trainings :: Domestic Violence
This training is a basic overview of domestic violence and is meant for those new to the field. This training is designed to provide students with an understanding of factors contributing to domestic violence and the skills to identify types of physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Students will learn how to identify factors that impact victim safety, barriers to reporting, safety planning and options available for victims/survivors.
- Goals & Objectives:
- Identify the prevalence of domestic violence
- Discuss the eight aspects of domestic violence as modeled in the Power and Control Wheel
- Identify common characteristics of perpetrators
- Discuss barriers that keep victims in abusive relationships
- Determine the effects of domestic violence on children
- Identify available treatment options
- Identify risk factors for dangerousness
- Discuss safety planning with domestic violence victims
