ICASDV Trainings :: Teen Dating Violence
The Idaho Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Project is a collaborative effort of the Idaho Coalition Against Sexual & Domestic Violence, St. Luke’s Health Care Systems, the Idaho Department of Education, Idaho School Counselors Association, Silver Sage Girl Scouts, Idaho Legal Aid Services, Treasure Valley YMCA and Interfaith Alliance of Idaho to educate teens and the statewide community on teen dating violence. The Idaho Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Project will develop a statewide education and prevention strategy on teen dating violence in partnership with medical and public health providers, schools and school counselors, community youth groups, faith-based youth groups, legal services, and domestic violence and sexual assault service programs to eliminate the prevalence and cultural acceptance of teen dating violence.
Goal: Educate the statewide community – teens, parents, secondary schools and school counselors, community youth group leaders, faith-based teen group leaders, domestic violence and sexual assault service providers, the legal and medical community - on teen dating violence.
- Objectives:
- Statewide Planning Team will create a public awareness campaign strategy to be implemented during the National Teen Dating Prevention Week in February 2007 consisting of ten regional Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Summits in rural communities in the state and a media campaign.
- Conduct 100 community presentations throughout the state for parents and organizations working with teens.
Goal: Facilitate the development of a teen-driven educational presentation that will educate teens on the warning signs of dating violence, how to help someone who is being abused, Idaho’s laws on dating violence, safety planning, dating rights and responsibilities, and where to get help.
- Objectives:
- Provide Idaho’s public, private, and faith-based secondary schools educational materials during the 2007 and 2008 National Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention week.
- Develop a teen driven training curriculum and materials for trainings for teenagers; supplement the training materials to address issues of underserved teens at risk.
- Conduct 225 presentations between March 2007 and June 2008 to schools community youth-based groups, and faith-based teen groups on dating violence.
Goal: Promote a coordinated community response on teen dating violence in ten regional communities, covering each of the seven judicial districts, in the state.
- Objectives:
- Develop or expand regional coordinated community response task forces to include teenagers on the task force and address issues on teen dating violence. Develop local task force driven projects.
Goal: Promote cultural change by facilitating public policy efforts that will sustain awareness and prevention, and encourage positive youth development.

- Increase the number of protection orders filed by teens or their parents.
- Develop an evaluation component to measure and improve effectiveness of the Idaho Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Project.
